Self-service flower vending machines
Have you ever heard the terms “Květinomat”, “Kvítkomat”, “Kvíťomat” or “Pugetomat”? They all refer to a new trend in the world of vending machines: flower vending machines offering fresh bouquets and flower boxes 24/7. These machines are equipped with refrigerated compartments that keep flowers fresh for longer, so florists can provide fresh flowers, including those from local suppliers. This makes them a great choice for any customer who wants to buy fresh flowers at any time, without stress or waiting, with instant card payment that immediately opens the compartment containing the chosen bouquet. Depending on the machine's operator, made-to-order bouquets can also be collected here.
A flower vending machine is ideal for florists who want to extend their business to round-the-clock operation or run without staff. But it is also a perfect choice for those who do not run their own flower shop but would like to sell flowers.
In the Czech Republic and Slovakia, together with vending machine supplier Eldrut, we have already delivered many flower vending machines with card payment.
We implement the payment technology for these vending machines via the MDB protocol, which ensures reliable and efficient communication between the machine's control system and the unattended Ingenico Self/2000 payment terminal or Self/4000. These payment terminals are designed specifically for self-service devices. Their integrated display, intuitive user interface and compatibility with a wide range of bank cards and mobile payment methods make them an ideal choice for a flower vending machine.
Our first joint flower vending machine installation in the Czech Republic took place on 1 May 2024 at Brno's main railway station, where large numbers of people gather at any time of day or night. This Kytky Brno machine was likewise fitted with an Ingenico Self/2000 payment terminal, which ensures fast and secure card payment.
Further flower vending machine installations followed for the florists Art Flowers by Petra and Květiny Orchidea. In and around Prague, we installed unattended payment terminals in 11 Květinářství 24h machines for Wildflower Wonders. This larger project represents a significant step in expanding self-service sales of fresh flowers. To date, we have supplied payment terminals for 24 flower vending machines in the Czech Republic, with a further 10 machines currently being installed.
We are not falling behind in Slovakia either.
At the end of April 2024, together with Eldrut, we installed the first flower vending machine there, for the florist Kvetinárstvo Tržnica Martin. This “Kvetkomat” was Slovakia's first step towards automating flower services.
This year, further installations followed for the florists Flowers Drive and BB Design in Bratislava, which also offer their customers round-the-clock sales of fresh flowers and flower boxes. In total, we have already installed payment terminals in 6 flower vending machines in Slovakia; the project is ongoing and holds great potential for the growth of self-service flower sales there.
