Our first installation of payment technology in charging stations.

At the beginning of 2021, our company established a partnership with CDS CARS s.r.o., an important business partner in the field of e-mobility. In a relatively short time, its development team integrated the terminal's communication protocol and tested the connection, and as early as March we proceeded with our first installation of payment technology in EV charging stations at the Nová Zbrojovka site, next to the ZET.office building. With that, we stepped into a new and very interesting area of payment terminal integration – e-mobility.

A modern site and modern technology

There are currently 6 parking bays next to the ZET.office building, with each pair served by one charging post with two side connectors. The solution is simple and elegant. It does not disturb the character of the newly emerging site in any way, and at the same time it fits into the modern environment that Nová Zbrojovka undoubtedly is. Visitors and employees of the companies based here can therefore charge their electric cars at each post separately, using their own RFID cards or, now, contactless payment cards as well. Employers, in turn, can offer their staff an attractive company benefit – e-mobility. It is no secret that corporate customers account for the majority of new car sales on the Czech market – in 2020, a full 74% of new cars sold went to Czech companies.

How does it work?

Anyone can charge an electric car right at the parking bay. Before charging, you need to select the post you want to use on the main payment module. This also activates a card payment of CZK 500, which you can make at the Ingenico iUC180B unattended payment terminal. Once the online payment transaction is complete, the customer can charge the vehicle.

Benefits of charging stations

Generally speaking, the number of places where electric cars can be charged is growing rapidly. Individual charging station operators, such as E.ON, also provide their customers with a map of locations showing where electricity is available and with which type of charger. Customers can easily work out how long a given charger will take to charge their electric car. All they need to know is the capacity of their car's battery and the charger's output in kWh. Divide the first figure by the second and the result is the time needed to charge the battery fully. By way of comparison, charging at home takes around 6 hours, whereas at selected charging stations customers can drive away with a fully charged battery after just 1 hour. Examples include the charging stations at Brno Airport and at the Benzina filling station in Vystrkov near Humpolec, where our payment technology is also in use.

More information on integrating payment terminals into charging posts can be found in the Charging stations section.
